A company of the Steel Production business unit
Valuable raw materials by recycling
GMH Recycling offers an extensive portfolio of scrap processing, including all related services, and ranging from scrap steel via special scrap material to steel plant by-products. Our expertise provides an assurance for the high quality of our products as well as the efficiency of our processes. In the recycling process we always recondition the raw materials using the best technology available, according to a procedure which is reliable, sustainable and efficient.
From scrap breaker to blasting chamber
At our locations in Osnabrück, Dortmund, Mülheim/Ruhr and Krefeld we process large-volume materials quickly and efficiently. Casting scrap as well as steel and raw iron are effectively crushed by our scrap breakers. In the case of iron parts we use our blasting chamber. After being compacted in the presses, the recycled scrap leaves our site in the form of easily transportable packages or briquets.
From combustion chamber to briquetting press
GMH Recycling also operates three combustion chambers with a state-of-the-art waste air purification plant for handling large-volume scrap. This is where heavy scrap is broken down into appropriate batch sizes using scrapping furnaces. By using modern filter technology, we can ensure that no dust is emitted into the environment. Grinding sludges undergo a reconditioning process in the briquetting pressr so that – mixed with turning chips and pressed into cylindrical briquets under high pressure, they can subsequently be used as a valuable secondary raw material. Our separation plants extract valuable metals and alloys such as copper, brass, aluminium and zinc from the waste. In aluminium smelters and other smelting systems they are subsequently reconditioned into valuable primary products for use in the automotive industry and mechanical engineering.
Efficient crap handling
With our own fleet of vehicles, storage areas and handling equipment, we offer our customers comprehensive raw material recycling from one single source. GMH Recycling also has its own cranes, excavators, wheel loaders, materials handling vehicles and HGVs. This makes it possible to handle large quantities of scrap within a very short time. Our storage areas are easily accessible by road as well as by rail. In addition, the two large sites in Dortmund and Osnabrück have a trans-shipment point for inland waterway vessels.
Far-sighted environmental protection
As a company of the steel production business unit, we are very aware of our responsibility towards the environment and climate. Which is why, as all companies of GMH Gruppe, we are audited and certified in accordance with DIN ISO 14001. We invest in equipment such as our waste treatment plants, separator systems or emulsion separation facilities and store our output material safely and correctly. Our current standards therefore exceed the statutory requirements - which means that we will still comply with regulations in the future.
