Welcome to SMB Schwermechanik GmbH Milling, drilling and turning of individual components and prototypes, even down to very small batch sizes, is SMB's speciality. Parts and elements of weights up to 60 tonnes and dimensions up to 11.0 metres are machined precisely to the customer's specifications. Experienced and optimally trained employees, working in close coordination with the customer, enable us to assure excellent results with maximum precision, quality and flexibility.

In a groundbreaking pilot project, the experts in Austria are, for the first time ever, using flows of digital data for Quality Assurance in the production of piston and connecting rods – another step on the way to the "smart factory".

Superior steel properties save up to 30% of downstream costs Bainitic steels combine the optimum properties of quenched and tempered (QT) steels with the short production routes of PHFP steels. This fact makes steels like Georgsmarienhütte GmbH's 16MnCrV7-7 (H2), 1.8195 the ideal steel for structural components in automotive engineering: assured versatility at rational cost.

Tooling and know-how for small complex components SMB Schwermechanik is one of the top heavyweight contenders in cost-effective production of high-quality large components. Now, our modern machining centre also permits the milling and turning of complex items of less than 4,000 kg and 1,700 x 1,400 x 1,200 mm – all with tried-and-proven Wildau know-how.
