Next-generation con-rod steels GMH Gruppe has long been the reliable partner of the automotive industry. Our con-rod steels, for example, are noted for their high mechanical strength and excellent crackability. Despite these high achievements, our development teams saw no reason to rest on their laurels: a new generation of even further enhanced steels is already available.

Connecting rods: 10% lighter thanks to new material 28 grams make a world of difference in automotive engineering. Using the GMH group's innovative 46MnVS5 material, they can be saved on crack connecting rods. This makes this new grade of steel the reliable solution in lightweighting – and the ideal candidate for parts such as connecting rods in the higher performance categories.

Open-die forgings supplied by GMH Gruppe meet the most exacting customer requirements in terms of material properties, precision and dimensional accuracy. These parts are used, in particular, in machines and equipment for the energy sector, in high-output engines, as components of storage and transport casks, and in numerous other sectors, including general mechanical and plant engineering, mobility and power generation.

Innovative burners make production of secondary steel more energy-efficient Technology experts of GMH Gruppe work with partners in a joint research project aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of secondary steel production by means of a new burner concept and future use of hydrogen to replace fossil fuels in steel melting.
