Steel made to exact requirements
The modern production plants at Schmiedewerke Gröditz are used to produce stainless steel products with precision, dimensional accuracy and special material properties. These properties include high degrees of purity, an even structure and resistance to wear and corrosion. To do this, we use the full spectrum of processing options for steel, from open-die forged parts and ring-rolled products to options for heat treatment and mechanical preparation and finishing.
For a wide range of applications
Mastering the entire range of processing options is a must for anyone who manufactures steel products for a variety of industries – such as mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, energy-related mechanical engineering, the chemicals industry, oil and gas generation and vehicle construction. The requirements of our customers are extremely diverse. Using the combined expertise and experience of our employees and GMH Gruppe, together with a wide range of services, we find a solution that is tailored to the customer’s requirements. A variety of processing options
The mechanical preparation and finishing of open-die forged pieces and ring-rolled products is also one of Schmiedewerke Gröditz’s areas of expertise. For this process, up to 75 tonnes of ingots are smelted to the required format in our electric steel plant, after which they can be lathed, milled, drilled and sawed. We use an ESR plant with a maximum ingot weight of 84 tonnes to produce these high-quality steels. In addition to steel bars, we also manufacture forged pieces for extremely demanding applications. The equipment used for this process includes one 27-meganewton and one 60-meganewton open-die forging press. Our heat treatment plants are designed to handle any technical requirement, be it soft annealing, normalisation, oil quenching or horizontal and vertical water quenching.
