SMB Schwermechanik is one of the top heavyweight contenders in cost-effective production of high-quality large components. Now, our modern machining centre also permits the milling and turning of complex items of less than 4,000 kg and 1,700 x 1,400 x 1,200 mm – all with tried-and-proven Wildau know-how.
Extraordinarily high demands for precision are made on the subtractive machining of complex components. Not only high machining and production process skills, but also the efficiency and accuracy of machinery and tooling are critical here.
For these tasks, the new SHW UniSpeed 5 TP permits subtractive machining, in the form of milling and turning, of components up to a gross weight of 6,000 kg. The machine can also be used for formats smaller than 1,750 x 1,400 x 1,400 mm. This machine assures precision milling in five axes and the manufacture of even complex turnings up to a diameter 1,600 mm.

Milling of industrial valves and slide-gate elements
Our know-how and machinery assure ultra-high-precision machining, benefiting numerous industrial customers, including piping and pipeline engineers. In the machining of parts for industrial valves, for example. SMB Schwermechanik's tooling is specially optimised for the production of high-precision seats for industrial valves. Another speciality is high-accuracy milling and turning of knife-valve and slide-gate parts for piping and pipeline systems.

Its capacities can be optimally utilised thanks to two feed/storage pallets and a setting-up bay, permitting automated machining of short and medium production runs and reducing per item machining costs significantly.
