Service chain: from strength to strength

Service chain: from strength to strength

Supply chain management at the GMH Gruppe

GMH Gruppe’s comprehensive supply network and the local supply chain management organisations work together to ensure that the service chain is optimised in a sustainable way – from the raw material to the final product, from costs to performance.

A strong group of companies such as GMH Gruppe offers a range of custom solutions. It is therefore necessary for numerous processes to be smoothly intertwined, both across different locations and around the world. GMH Gruppe’s supply chain management ensures that this is the case. While the supply network works across all business areas, the individual supply chain management organisations mainly work to implement measures at the individual companies.

Supply chain management at GMH Gruppe

The core tasks of GMH Gruppe’s supply network include developing, managing and taking responsibility for the implementation of the correct strategy. The supply network strategically develops manufacturing routes and procurement sources. It also finds new methods of production and primary material provision. The network manages the material flows, from the raw material and billets to the final product, as well as the information flow along the whole service chain. It plays a key part in improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the group’s companies and their customers.

Optimised locations network

Other focus areas of GMH Gruppe’s supply chain management include exploiting technological developments and interlocking processes in an optimised way, as well as creating smart networks of experts. This includes the efficient use of resources across locations, and improving logistics by exchanging examples of best practice. In terms of monitoring, defined indicators and regular reports are used to identify whether efficiency and cost-cutting measures are really having the desired effect. These indicators include customer satisfaction and quality consistency, as well as throughput times, real net output ratio, utilisation levels and margins.

GMH Gruppe’s SCM organisations

The individual SCM organisations ensure on a local level that customer wishes are fulfilled punctually, reliably and to their exact specifications – from planning and realisation to delivery. They implement GMH Gruppe’s supply chain management in the companies, and support the network’s strategic development by providing technical knowledge and best practice cases. Specific optimisation projects are implemented collaboratively. Additional responsibilities of the SCM organisations also include ensuring that procedures are transparent, traceable and audit-proof, and that all statutory and internal compliance guidelines are adhered to.
